Title: The Night of the Running Death Plot: Agent James West races to save Mr. Markham from a masked attacker who escapes just as he arrives. As Markham lies gravely wounded, he whispers two crucial names: "Enzo" and "silver." Meanwhile, Agent Artemus Gordon has infiltrated a traveling performance group headed to Denver, led by the cunning casino owner, Kohner. Posing as a Shakespearean actor, Gordon uncovers that Enzo has a girlfriend named Topaze, a dancer in the troupe, who is en route to Denver under an alias. Just as Dierdre, another dancer, tries to pass a vital message to West, Kohner interrupts, leading to a confrontation with the formidable El Bardhoom. Later, Artemus hears a chilling voice that belongs to Markham's murderer. When West arrives to meet Dierdre at midnight, he finds her lifeless body, fallen victim to the same hidden foe.
