Rumpole takes on the case of a vicar accused of stealing three shirts from a department store, but the distressed priest is reluctant to testify on his own behalf. Meanwhile, George Frobisher, who is set to become a Circuit Judge, joins the Rumpoles for dinner and brings along his new girlfriend. Rumpole recalls having seen her in court and urges his friend to reconsider his choice.
