Episode Overview

After years of sharing letters, Fran's pen pal Lenny expresses a desire to meet in person. Fran grows anxious, realizing she has embellished the truth in her letters and fears Lenny won't accept her true self. Mr. Sheffield encourages her to go through with the meeting, primarily out of his own curiosity about Lenny, and waits with Fran at the Russian Tea Room. However, Lenny never arrives, leaving a note that he feels he can't compete with the charming man Fran is with. Meanwhile, C.C. decides to stay late at work hoping to charm Maxwell, while Niles playfully teases her. Their banter leads to a few drinks and a surprise kiss.
