Mr. Sheffield embarks on a trip to London to persuade Celine Dion to join Broadway. Fran seizes the opportunity to follow him, hoping the romantic setting will finally clarify their relationship. After a lovely afternoon, they return to the hotel, on the verge of intimacy, but Max hesitates at the last moment, leaving Fran feeling insulted and frustrated. Determined to move on before it's too late for love, she decides to leave him. However, they receive alarming news from New York about Niles suffering a heart attack. Fran chooses to stay and support Niles during his recovery, giving Max another chance to commit. Unexpectedly, C.C. shows her softer side, visiting Niles in the hospital with flowers and confessing to Fran that she doesn't harbor as much hatred for him as she pretends.
