Jim wakes up to discover that Madelyn is under the control of Gork. Roy reveals that the Gork species intends to invade human minds, and he has arrived on Earth with a device that can thwart their plans. Unfortunately, the device is in five fragmented parts hidden around the globe. At the same time, Dr. Elliott storms in with his associates, intent on questioning Dr. Axel. He recounts a traumatic childhood meeting with a Gork and then takes Dr. Axel hostage, escalating the urgency of their mission.
