Tutankhamun's Egypt (1972)
S01E09 Science and Technology
Episode Overview
The ancient Egyptians lacked modern scientific understanding, but they possessed a remarkable grasp of mathematics and chemistry. Their true expertise was in constructing monumental structures, and many of their feats remain a mystery to us today. Despite our advanced technology, we still struggle to comprehend how they accomplished these tasks. We do know they expertly crafted massive obelisks, such as Cleopatra's Needle, and transported them over great distances from their quarries, relying solely on basic materials and incredible creativity. This insight comes from Cyril Aldred, featured in the Tutankhamun Exhibition at the British Museum.
