Neville St. Clair, a respectable businessman in London, leads a seemingly ordinary life. However, his wife is taken aback when she spots him through the window of a notorious opium den during her lunchtime outing. Later that night, when he doesn’t come home, Mrs. St. Clair becomes increasingly worried and seeks the expertise of Sherlock Holmes to uncover the truth behind her husband’s mysterious disappearance.
