Arliss is tasked with assisting a client in laying his mother to rest. At the same time, Stanley is experiencing a streak of misfortune that jeopardizes his chess performance, prompting him to seek out a "slumpbuster." Meanwhile, Kirby unexpectedly encounters his own slumpbuster from nearly two decades prior, forcing him to confront the repercussions of their past.
