Episode Overview

Frustrated with the hospital’s unreliable electrical system, Thackery enlists Herman Barrow, the corrupt superintendent, to procure additional cadavers for experimenting with innovative surgical techniques. As patient deaths rise, Edwards proposes a procedure he picked up in France, but both Thackery and Gallinger dismiss his suggestion. Meanwhile, Robertson deals with a typhoid fever outbreak, Elkins gains Thackery’s trust, and Sister Harriet crosses a boundary. In the midst of it all, Edwards discovers a different approach to fulfill his responsibilities.
