MacGyver (1985)

Episode Overview

Pete Thornton looks into the alleged death of an old friend, a notable Russian dissident, and realizes he needs to help his friend's daughter, Maria, escape the country before the secret police can arrest her for supposed conspiracy. While in Russia, Pete unexpectedly runs into MacGyver, who has followed him from the States. Although initially frustrated by MacGyver's presence, Pete quickly enlists his help when the secret police arrive to apprehend Maria. After a thrilling boat chase, they learn from Maria that her father is alive, locked away in a high-security psychiatric ward. To infiltrate the institution, MacGyver pretends to be a deranged patient while Pete poses as his doctor. With the assistance of other patients, MacGyver successfully sneaks into Ward Zero, rescues Pete's friend, and hides him among the other inmates.
