Speed Racer (1967)

Episode Overview

After triumphing in a practice race, Speed Racer receives an invitation to join a team competing in the Grand Prix, which is owned by the company that employs his father, Pops Racer, a renowned engineer. However, Speed decides to turn it down, as Pops doesn’t want him to pursue a professional racing career. Meanwhile, Pops resigns after his ideas to enhance the Mach 5 are dismissed. While heading home, a gang of motorcycle racers snatches their plans. Trixie, piloting her helicopter, manages to chase the gang off the road, recovering the plans. At the gang's hideout, the villain Acey Ducey proposes to retrieve the plans for "5,000 clams." He confronts Pops but leaves empty-handed since Pops cleverly concealed the designs on the Mach 5's windshield using invisible ink. To help Pops rebuild the engine, Speed considers selling the Mach 5 and visits Sparky, who encourages him to enter the Sword Mountain Race for a $5
