Speed Racer (1967)

Episode Overview

In a highly classified location, the secret National Science Institute, Professor Tower exits late at night, radiating joy. The guards speculate he has just completed his latest invention, a powerful ray known as the Mesmo. Suddenly, the Mach Five speeds in and leaps over the gate, triggering the alarm. However, an armed thief manages to snatch some vital documents before the alert sounds. The following day at the Racer household, Spritle is busy crafting a model of the Mach Five in the garage. Speed, recovering from a late night, turns on the news, which covers the burglary at the institute. Eager to test his own driving skills, Spritle takes the car for a spin, but when he presses button "A," only one side's jacks extend. Button "B" causes only a few grip tires to deploy, resulting in a wheel coming off and the car crashing. He ends up landing right at the feet of a police officer, who threatens to issue a ticket.
