In the rugged American West, a convoy of trucks navigates the desert when a gang of motorcyclists charges down the mountainside to ambush them. Meanwhile, Speed celebrates his victory at the Southwest Grand Prix. A fan admires the Mach Five, sharing that he once aspired to be a professional racer but never succeeded, though he keeps his identity a secret. That night, Speed and his crew have dinner with Mr. Skyhigh from the Office of Space Development. Skyhigh seeks Speed’s assistance in safeguarding an international space base under construction, as motorcycle Apaches are attacking the crews and equipment. The Mach Five is crucial for transporting uraniumtane, a powerful element that enhances nuclear missile strength. Sparky, Trixie, Spritle, and Chim Chim arrive to support Speed. After being told he can’t join the mission, Spritle decides to have some fun playing cowboys in the ghost town.
