Jean begins to suspect that Lionel may be losing his hearing. Despite his evident struggles to hear, Lionel refuses to seek medical advice. At the same time, he becomes convinced that Jean is facing issues with her eyesight and takes it upon himself to find a solution to her supposed problem.
