Stardate: 47988.0. Following a diagnosis of a serious brain condition, Picard begins to experience strange time jumps to three distinct eras: 25 years ahead, just before the Enterprise-D's mission to Farpoint, and the current time. He soon realizes that Q is orchestrating these temporal shifts. Stardate: 47988.1. After confronting Q, Picard gathers his senior officers, contemplating whether Q is offering him a chance to alter the course of history by revealing the existence of a spatial anomaly in the past. As they discuss, the ship approaches the Neutral Zone, and Picard is thrust back into the future, where Beverly’s vessel is stationed. He persuades a hesitant Worf to join them into Klingon space before traveling to the past, directing the crew toward the Devron system.
