Episode Overview

In 843 A.D. Arabia, a man aiming to shoot one of Sydney's students is abruptly killed by a shadowy assassin, who is revealed to be the bodyguard of Prince Shareem. Shareem seeks the Light of Truth, a lamp that exposes the true nature of its holder. When Sydney declines to help, Shareem evades his bodyguard Yusef and hires Relic Hunter Frank Kafka instead. Shareem's uncle, Hosni, pressures Sydney to locate the lamp. With a complicated past between Sydney and Kafka—who blames Sydney for losing his left hand—Sydney and Nigel pursue Shareem at a dig led by Kafka. Kafka intends to deceive Shareem, seize the lamp, and eliminate the prince. After a confrontation, Kafka falls into a deep pit, while Sydney discovers the lamp. Shareem tests Yusef and Hosni's loyalty, revealing Hosni as a traitor. Pleased, Shareem entrusts the lamp to Sydney for the museum.
