At the pinnacle of their fame, Van Halen emerged as the world's preeminent rock band, notorious for their flamboyant live shows and extravagant lifestyles. With their charismatic frontmen, extravagant hairstyles, and love for spandex, they epitomized the quintessential 80s American rock scene. However, the band's history was marked by two tumultuous breakups, primarily driven by the Van Halen brothers' struggle for dominance and the toll of substance abuse. By 1984, despite being the biggest band globally, internal strife simmered, particularly between the brothers and lead singer David Lee Roth. As Roth's ambitions outgrew the band, the brothers acted swiftly to oust him, leaving fans heartbroken. Nevertheless, they ultimately rebounded with new lead singer Sammy Hagar.
