Breaking the Band (2018)
S03E01 KISS
Episode Overview
In 1972, KISS emerged and revolutionized glam rock with their extravagant personas and explosive performances, captivating audiences worldwide. By 1978, they had skyrocketed to global fame, but the pressures of constant touring and the excesses of rock and roll began to fracture the band. While Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons maintained their sobriety and focused on music, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley succumbed to substance abuse. The tensions culminated in 1980 when Criss was dismissed, leading to a decade of diminishing success for the band, even as Gene and Peter worked with various session musicians. A triumphant MTV performance in 1995 marked the reunion of the original lineup, rekindling their legendary legacy.
