The Penguin contaminates the ink at the U.S. Mint with the Lygerian Sleeping Sickness. As news of the tainted currency spreads, Gotham City residents dump their cash into the streets, unwittingly filling Penguin's coffers. However, when Bruce Wayne disseminates information about the infected bills globally, the Penguin discovers that his ill-gotten fortune is now worthless. Enraged, he threatens to unleash a more sinister scheme if the warning isn’t revoked.
