Episode Overview

Monica Phelps is discovered dead in her apartment, with her son Nathan found hiding in a closet nearby. As detectives investigate, they connect Monica's murder to Ted Carthage, a philanthropist leading a charity focused on aiding the homeless. Benson is convinced that Carthage is responsible for the crime, yet a shaky identification from Nathan allows Carthage to walk free. After Nathan takes matters into his own hands and kills Carthage, Sophie Devere contends that Nathan acted out of trauma after witnessing his mother’s murder at Carthage’s hands—a revelation that doesn’t sit well with gun manufacturers.
