Episode Overview

At the christening of Mayor Bey's son, Michael, the townspeople are shocked when Laurie reveals that she carried the baby for her brother Jerry and his partner Gordy, who intend to raise him in Rome. The situation escalates when their estranged mother, Christine, returns to claim custody, citing her disapproval of Jerry's sexuality. As the community divides over the custody battle, tensions rise, leading to a violent attack on Jerry and Gordy by a homophobic group at the supermarket. Despite the prosecution's attempts to undermine them, Judge Bone rules in favor of the couple, deeming them fit parents. After the verdict, Christine leaves town again, and Laurie tearfully hands over baby Michael to his loving dads.
