After months away from the hiking trail, Carol shares her excitement about her relationship with Merc with Beverly. Although Beverly is shocked, she promises to back her friend—until she learns that Merc is now engaged to Morning Randolph. Meanwhile, Matt invites Sean and Beverly to his ranch for a weekend of brainstorming a new series, but things take a chaotic turn with some gunfire and a wild boar making an appearance.
