Episode Overview

As fierce wildfires threaten Elkhorn Ranch, Theodore Roosevelt's team acts swiftly to prevent disaster, though many cattle are lost to the flames. Facing financial strain, Roosevelt opts to sell part of his remaining herd to the town's founder, the Marquis de Morés, ahead of the fall roundup. However, when the Marquis tries to exploit the situation with a lowball offer, Roosevelt’s pride leads him to reject the deal. Other ranchers rally behind Roosevelt, prompting the Marquis to retaliate by shutting down his local businesses, sparking conflict between ranchers and merchants. To restore peace, the town decides to establish a cattlemen’s association. As ranchers prepare to vote for a leader, Roosevelt must contemplate his future in politics.
