In a shocking turn of events following the season finale’s cliffhanger, Mickey sacrifices himself by taking a bullet meant for Lu, ultimately saving her life. Lu rushes him to the hospital, where he is placed on a respirator, but his chances of survival are grim. As Lu grapples with the emotional fallout of Mickey’s impending death, Andy faces her own challenges; she attempts an experimental procedure on a baby in critical condition, only to be halted by Bob, who reveals the FDA has revoked approval for the treatment. Meanwhile, Andy fights to secure a free heart transplant for a patient without insurance and must also break the news to Lizzy and Jesse about her impending divorce from Les, who is relocating across the country.
