Ming's computer, Octon, has devised a lethal creation: Tycos, a machine engineered entirely by machines, free from human errors, which Ming plans to use against the Defenders. Meanwhile, Kshin attempts to befriend Audie, a brilliant boy whose only friend is his self-made robot, Tweak, crafted from living matter instead of traditional chips. The elder Defenders fall into a trap set by Tycos at a mountain bunker in Colorado, leading to the Phantom's capture. Tycos disables all computer systems in the Western Hemisphere, but Tweak remains unaffected due to his unique composition. Although the young Defenders struggle to convince Audie to help, he decides to join them after they rescue him from Ming. Upon reaching the bunker, they find Mandrake and Flash are also held captive. Tweak bravely sacrifices himself to neutralize a nerve gas threat, allowing the others to escape. Audie improvises a lighter to ignite Tycos' power source, disabling the
