Episode Overview
Austin discovers that Marion is coaching a children’s football league alongside her former grade school coach, Sam Wilson. Eager to impress Marion, he joins the team, while Sam hopes to win over Jackie with his kindness. Unfortunately, Austin struggles on the field due to his size and lack of skill, prompting Sam to assure Marion that Austin will sit out the game. Despite secretly loathing football, Austin chooses to remain on the team to avoid disappointing anyone. On game day, with several players sidelined by chicken pox, Austin becomes the only substitute after an injury. As he hides in the locker room, Jackie and Marion search for him. Jackie pieces together Sam’s motivations, while Marion comforts Austin, promising their friendship remains intact. Ultimately, when Austin decides to take the field, he gets an opportunity to score but lets his confidence get the better of him and is tackled.
