Lola isn’t fond of the hat that Lotta gifts her; it's uncomfortable and has annoying 'dangly bits.' Even Soren Lorenson, her imaginary friend, suggests it might be a good thing if she accidentally misplaced it. However, when Lola actually loses the hat, she comes to understand that her friendship with Lotta holds far greater value than the hat itself.
