In 2003, two decades after Mary Fisher's murder, Internal Affairs Officer Sgt. Ian Lynch takes on the case involving Eric’s allegations of misconduct against Russell, now a Lieutenant. Lynch confronts Russell about the accusations, but mounting pressure from the department jeopardizes the possibility of reopening the investigation. At the same time, Eric, aided by a troubled cellmate, stumbles upon a shocking piece of overlooked evidence in his legal documents.
