Episode Overview
PC Bradley is called to investigate a burglary when he suddenly witnesses a car explosion. It's the vehicle of ambulance driver Frank Metcalfe, who had received threatening letters and phone calls just days before, suggesting attempted murder. Meanwhile, the local grocer, Mr. Dale, is also attacked under similar mysterious circumstances, but there seems to be no connection between the two incidents. The only clue is a blue Ford Transit van spotted at both scenes, indicating the assailant may have military training and access to a local arsenal. Pete Atkins fits this profile but maintains his innocence. Meanwhile, Oscar Blaketon also starts receiving threatening calls, raising fears he could be the next target. In another storyline, Rev. Meeks approaches Lord Ashfordly to discuss funding renovations for St. Jude's Church on his estate, prompting the lord to hire Vernon Scripps and David for the project. Meeks specifically asks them to search for a unique baptismal font from the church.
