Episode Overview
Dieter, a German man, arrives in the village seeking the grave of his father, but many locals are hostile towards him. Among them is Nick, a young member of the moorland rescue team, who harbors resentment because Dieter's father was responsible for bombing his parents' home during the war. Nick struggles to comprehend the villagers' animosity, and Gina shares his confusion. Meanwhile, an elderly man, a regular visitor to Aidensfield, goes missing with his dog, Claude. Dieter offers to assist in the search but gets lost in the moors and ends up stuck in a swamp. After some effort, Nick helps him, but ultimately, the moorland rescue member steps in to save Dieter. Nick apologizes to Maggie for his earlier words following Kate's funeral. When Maggie spots a runaway train, Nick races after it, only to discover that the old man and Claude were at the controls!
