After a brutal uprising, the slave ship Lord Ligonier reaches its destination, and Kunta Kinte faces the humiliation of being sold at a slave auction in Annapolis. Fiddler, the slave responsible for Kunta's training, becomes his sole ally, but their bond is strained when Kunta decides to attempt his escape.
