Episode Overview

Sergeant Gaine learns that three of his soldiers have been wrongfully sentenced in a drumhead court-martial for desertion, a scheme designed to protect their commanding officer from the fallout of an illegal assault on a group of Piute Indians, which also led to the deaths of Wells Fargo stagecoach passengers. With time running out, Hardie and Prentiss, the governor's representative, must urgently intervene to rescue the condemned men before Colonel Bledsoe can eliminate the witnesses by carrying out their executions.
