Tiffauges, a wealthy and cruel Frenchman accustomed to having his desires fulfilled, sets his sights on acquiring the McCain Ranch. His right-hand man, Xavier, sees Lucas as a strong opponent and doubts he will surrender easily. Frustrated with Tiffauges' harsh punishments and mistreatment, Xavier and the other workers grow weary of their situation. Lucas cleverly taps into their yearning for freedom, motivating them to stand firm and protect their way of life on the ranch.
