Eric feels overwhelmed when he discovers that Matt has been let go from his hospital job and is depending on his friends for employment leads. Meanwhile, Simon adds to Eric's anxiety by pushing for his learner's permit. In a separate turmoil, Lucy has ended her engagement to Jeremy, isolating herself in her room and avoiding conversations about the breakup. Robbie, still pining for Mary, is downcast as she heads back to New York to be with Wilson. Additionally, Eric is increasingly concerned about Annie's strange behavior, leading him to suspect she might be expecting.
