Angkor Wat attracts millions of visitors each year, yet few realize the full extent of its historical significance. Nearly a millennium ago, this architectural marvel was part of a sprawling metropolis, now revealed through advanced remote sensing technology. Beneath the lush paddy fields and dense jungle lies an intricate urban landscape, complete with homes, canals, boulevards, and temples spanning 30 square kilometers, supporting a population of around 750,000.
