In the midst of uncovering a drug smuggling ring, tragedy strikes when the driver is fatally shot. It is revealed that this man is none other than Superintendent Martin Beck's son. Overwhelmed with grief, Beck initially withdraws from the investigation. However, at the urging of his colleagues, he ultimately decides to rejoin the case, determined to seek justice for his son.
