Steve confides in Janet about his desire to raise their baby together, but later disappoints her with his mixed feelings. Meanwhile, Kelly thinks about switching careers. To prepare for the boutique's reopening, Matt hires Gina, who accidentally sets a fire while trying to destroy an invitation for a key fashion critic. In the chaos, she ruins Donna's new men's wear line with a fire extinguisher. Although she blames the lighting, Matt finds the charred invitation and insists she invite the critic to the reopening to make things right. Everyone rallies to help Donna create new outfits. Cherise ends her relationship with Noah for canceling their weekend trip and focusing too much on Donna. In a surprising moment during the fashion show, Steve proposes to Janet, but she hesitates, worried they might be making a mistake. Dylan's application to California University is rejected due to his bold essay, and they refuse to reconsider. David presents the revised essay to him.
