Episode Overview

While at the beach club, Jackie accidentally chips her tooth, but a nearby dentist quickly comes to her aid. To her surprise, he asks her out, revealing himself to be Mel Silver, David's dad. Kelly is horrified as the two hit it off, imagining the awkward prospect of becoming David's step-sister. Determined to intervene, she acts out during dinner, which leads her to a heartfelt breakdown about her fears of losing her mother. After apologizing to Mel, she supports David in accepting that his parents won’t get back together. Meanwhile, Andrea encourages Brandon to bond with a boy from the youth center who doesn't have a father. As their friendship grows, Brandon learns that the boy is being abused by his mother, leaving him torn about whether to report it. Meanwhile, Brenda can’t shake her thoughts about Dylan while he’s in Hawaii.
