Episode Overview
Ray is frustrated by David's arrival in Portland. David is thrown into a panic when he learns that his mother has lost her job, disappeared from her last known address, and hasn't cashed her alimony checks for months. He reaches out to Donna for assistance, while Ray acts like a complete jerk. Despite their efforts, David and Donna can't track down Sheila at her usual spots and discover she has been recently arrested. Donna ends up missing Ray's concert, which leads to an explosive confrontation where he shoves her against the wall in their hotel room. Afterwards, Ray feels remorseful and lends David his truck. Mel arrives from Los Angeles and reveals Sheila's ongoing struggles with mental illness. They receive a tip about her living on the streets and take her to the hospital. Realizing that Donna is content with Ray, David decides to step back. Meanwhile, Dylan tries hypnotherapy to gain insight into the character in Charley's script, while Valerie gets a tattoo.
