Kelly reconnects with Colin and quickly gets lost in a haze of drugs. Their dependency grows, especially as their stash dwindles. Valerie starts to suspect Kelly is using but struggles to convince others of the issue. Meanwhile, during a jog, Susan breaks down when she and Brandon pass the site of a hit-and-run, revealing her sister was killed by a car while jogging with her. Donna worries about Joe's health as he ramps up his training. Brandon confronts Joe and is upset when Susan plans to write about his condition. While Susan fears for Joe's life, Brandon is concerned that gossip could jeopardize his pro career. Joe nearly collapses from an irregular heartbeat while sprinting the stadium steps. Clare challenges Steve to a race after he mocks her new sports car, but they end up being pulled over by a cop and must attend traffic school. A fellow student, amused by their banter, takes an interest in their dynamic.
