Following Franco's passing, numerous political prisoners gain their freedom; among them are genuine victims of the regime, alongside others, such as the Etarras, who are outright criminals destined to continue their violent ways. One notable figure is Jesus María Zabarte, infamously known as the Butcher of Mondragón, recognized for his brutality. In response, ETA escalates its war against the government, targeting businessmen, politicians, and military personnel, while instilling fear within the civilian population.
