Inside Nature's Giants (2009)
S03E04 The Dinosaur Bird
Episode Overview
The acclaimed series returns to Australia, seeking out a bird often likened to a living dinosaur: the Cassowary, which resides in the lush rainforests of Queensland. This colossal bird, sometimes taller and heavier than an adult human, is notorious for its dangerous nature, equipped with five-inch talons capable of causing severe harm, even fatalities. Despite its fearsome reputation as the world's most perilous bird, the Cassowary typically roams the jungle and coastlines peacefully unless provoked. With its striking blue head, horn-like crest, and dangling red throat ornaments, this bird is undeniably peculiar. Mark Evans and Joy Reidenberg conduct a dissection of a Cassowary that fell victim to a vehicle, a sadly frequent occurrence due to roads encroaching on its habitat.
