Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964)

Episode Overview

After days of cruising beneath the ice, Seaview rises to the surface to witness the sky on fire due to the Van Allen belt igniting. Nelson rushes to Washington to meet with fellow scientists, devising a strategy to launch a nuclear device into the atmosphere to put out the flames. However, Weber, another scientist, argues that they should take no action and let the fire burn itself out. Disagreeing with Weber, Nelson brings him and two others aboard Seaview to decide their next steps as the submarine speeds towards the launch site. Meanwhile, Weber is resolute in stopping Nelson, even if it means resorting to deadly measures.
