Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964)

Episode Overview

Dr. Alex Holden is on the trail of a massive whale that he has injected with an experimental growth serum. When the creature turns aggressive, it destroys his boat, resulting in the death of his crew. He is subsequently rescued by Seaview, which is on a mission to plant a nuclear device for an undersea channel that Holden is obsessed with. As he desperately tries to retrieve his equipment from the whale, it unexpectedly swallows the bomb while it's being lowered. With the president's carrier nearby, Nelson is unable to detonate the bomb. In a fit of desperation, Holden steals Nelson's remote detonator, threatening to destroy the whale if he’s not allowed to collect samples.
