Episode Overview

Billy, a struggling plumber, has long battled his gambling addiction. He insists he can handle it, but with bills piling up and repossession notices looming, his wife Michelle is reaching her breaking point. After selling his van to settle debts, Billy scrapes by with small plumbing jobs. He even resorts to stealing taps from the betting shop to finish a job after gambling away a customer's money. His friend Dave won’t lend him cash, leaving Billy in a tight spot. While assessing a job, Billy discovers what appears to be a bag of diamonds hidden in the loft. Unsure of their authenticity, he shows one to Dave, and they’re stunned to find they’re real. Tempted by the prospect of quick cash, Billy takes several gems, sharing the profits with Dave. Initially, he enjoys a brief financial reprieve, but instead of paying off debts, he gambles again, quickly losing it all.
