Derrick comes to the aid of a dog named Rex, who was born without his front legs and requires a specially designed cart. Afterward, he travels to Fort Worth, Texas, to meet Penny, a young woman who lost a leg in a severe car accident. Without Derrick's intervention, she faces the risk of paralysis.
