Vinnie and Frank work to lift Dan's spirits as he grapples with his feelings about becoming a grandfather. Meanwhile, when Lauren discovers a fake check tucked away in her husband’s pocket, she enlists Dan to look into it. His investigation reveals that a local builder is running a scam to defraud his insurance provider. As a result, the builder is put out of business, forcing Stephen to make the tough choice to leave town in search of new opportunities.
