This Old House (1979)
S16E11 The Acton House - 11
Episode Overview
Terry and Sima Maitland deliberate over paint choices for their home’s exterior, ultimately opting for a vibrant pumpkin color for the field and a soft cream for the trim. They also consider some adjustments to the farmer's porch, including the placement of a post adjacent to the main house, trim details along the fascia, and the addition of a gutter. Inside, our host explores a newly installed central vacuum system, while the crew evaluates the heating and cooling setups in the new addition, featuring radiant baseboard heating on the first floor and in the master bedroom, as well as in-wall radiant tubing for the mudroom, stairwell, and master bath. Preservation mason Steve Roy inspects the first-floor fireplaces and concludes that the chimney needs to be rebuilt from the roofline up. Meanwhile, landscape contractor Roger Cook oversees the hydroseeding of the lawn.
