This Old House (1979)
S16E13 The Acton House - 13
Episode Overview
Terry is hard at work sealing the worn clapboards on the west gable, getting ready for the final coat of paint. Painter George Hourihan is busy applying a glossy latex finish to both the body and trim of the house. Meanwhile, mason Lenny Belleveau is tasked with dismantling and reconstructing the chimney starting from the roofline. Our master carpenter collaborates with architect Chris Dallmus on a research outing around Action to find a more fitting design for a new front entrance, as the existing one feels too rustic. Sima Maitland considers her flooring options, including recycled longleaf and shortleaf southern yellow pine, ultimately choosing the old white pine. We then head to the lumberyard, where a range of 18th and 19th-century architectural elements are showcased.
