This Old House (1979)
S16E26 The Napa Valley House - 8
Episode Overview
On the last day of the project, the sun shines brightly at a picturesque overlook after a week of gloomy weather. The painters are finishing the exterior topcoat, while carpenters finalize the last trim pieces, and architect Jon Lail inspects the completed work. Richard Trethewey takes us through the utility room, which features a compact toilet and shower, a lavatory, and a spacious laundry area. The kitchen boasts an island sink equipped with a water purification system, a trash compactor, a three-bowl sink with disposal, two undercounter thermal-convection ovens, a quiet dishwasher with a delay function, a gas cooktop with a retractable hood, and an energy-efficient refrigerator costing about $85 annually. Richard meets with the chairman of California's energy commission to discuss the state's efficiency initiatives. We also see custom wood doors and brass hardware being installed, followed by a visit to an impressive private wine cellar.
